Hinges
Hinges allow a door to swing. Some doors swing both ways and some doors are so heavy that pivots are used to carry their weight. Other doors have continuous, half surface, full surface or even half mortise hinges. Consult our online catalog or request a site visit from one of our end user specialists to determine which product is right for your application.
Locks
Pin tumbler locks have been around since the ancient Egyptians. Today there are 3 main types of locks:
- Mortise
- Cylindrical
- Tubular
Within these three categories there are scores of different lever designs, trim and functions, along with multiple key system options. Contact one of our sales professionals to discuss what lock type best fits your door needs.
Exit Devices
In 1903 the Iroquois Theatre Fire in Chicago claimed the lives of almost 600 people. During this time- period it was not uncommon for theatres and the like to lock interior and exterior doors thereby disallowing non-paying persons from entering the facility. This also inhibited persons on the inside from exiting. In 1908 the first model of a “panic bar” style egress device was released.
Since then exit devices are now required by building code to be used on many opening types such as building exits and stairwells. Contact one of our sales professionals to discuss what exit device is required for your various entryways.
Door Closers
There are four styles of interior door-closer:
- Surface-mounted
- Concealed in frame
- Concealed in floor
- Concealed in door
The purpose of a door closer is to control the swing of a door and ensure the door closes when it is opened. Door closers are somewhat complex and based on how they are installed and adjusted will determine how well they work. Contact one of our sales professionals to discuss what Door closer best suites your need.
